Graduate Program

K-Arts' Graduate Program (A.K.A. Jeon Moon Sa) is a 2-year or 3-year curriculum equivalent to a graduate school to nurture highly professional artists. Those who have completed this course and obtained a Master of Arts certificate are recognized for their academic ability equivalent to that of a master's degree when entering a higher school according to Article 12 of the Korea National University of Arts Establishment Ordinance (Presidential Decree No. 15898). School of Visual Arts' Master of Fine Arts course aims to cultivate the professional abilities and knowledge necessary for students who have completed the undergraduate course to work in the field after graduation. It was first established in March 2000 to deepen the more specialized and differentiated abilities and individuality of students in the field of contemporary art, architecture, design and art theory looking at the 21st century. Unlike the Bachelor of Arts course, which provides basic education for the lower grades and major education for the upper grades, the Master of Fine Arts course in the Department of Fine Arts consists of independent practical and theoretical courses and various studio courses for each major so that students can focus on the major of their own choice. Currently, it is divided into Fine Art (Fine Art, Printmaking) majors, Sculpture & Installation majors (Sculpture, Installation, Performance), Media Art majors (Photography, 3D Holography Art, Video Art, Intermedia) and Ceramic Art and Glass Art majors. All courses for each major are carried out with individual guidance by their respective advisers. Here, the Graduate Seminar, which was opened to deepen the knowledge and humanities related to Fine Arts in general and various Technical Workshop and Individual Study classes according to majors are connected.

전문사 과정

예술전문사과정은 고도의 전문예술인을 양성하기 위한 대학원에 상당하는 2년제 및 3년제의 교육과정으로서 이 과정을 이수하고 예술전문사 증서를 취득한 자는 한국예술종합학교 설치령(대통령령 제15898호) 제12조에 의해 상급학교 입학에 있어서 석사학위 학력에 상당하는 학력을 인정받는다. 미술원의 예술전문사과정은 학부 과정을 마친 학생들이 졸업 후 각 분야의 현장에서 활동하는 데 필요한 전문적인 능력과 소양을 배양하는 것을 목표로, 21세기를 바라보는 현대미술, 건축, 디자인, 미술이론의 보다 전문화되고 차별화된 능력과 개성을 심화시키기 위해 2000년 3월 처음 개설되었다. 조형예술과의 예술전문사과정은 저학년의 기초교육과 고학년의 전공교육을 진행하는 예술사과정과는 달리, 자신이 선택한 전공분야에 집중할 수 있도록 독립적인 실기와 이론교과목들 그리고 다양한 전공별 스튜디오 과정들로 구성되어 있다. 현재 평면조형 전공(평면, 판화), 입체조형 전공(조각, 설치, 퍼포먼스), 매체미술 전공(사진 · 홀로그래피, 비디오아트, 인터미디어), 도자 · 유리 전공 등으로 나누어져 있으며, 모든 전공별 과정은 각각의 지도교수에 의한 개인지도를 중심으로 진행된다. 여기에는 조형예술 전반에 관한 지식과 인문학적 소양을 심화시키기 위해 개설된 전문사세미나와 전공에 따른 다양한 기술연구와 독립연구 수업들이 연계된다.

Major Requirements

Studio 1~4

Subjects with the same characteristics as the Studio in the undergraduate course and provide intensive artist cultivation education centered on personal guidance from the adviser.

Graduation Exhibition & Presentation

Presentation of personal exhibitions in the 2nd semester of the 2nd year at outside exhibition halls and 3 sheets of A4 paper prepared by the student in person. The Exhibition Catalog (more than 15 pieces of photos or records), including work essay, will be evaluated by the Graduation Works evaluation committee consisting of 5 or more professors and consent from all committee members must be obtained.

전공 스튜디오 1~4

예술사과정의 스튜디오와 같은 성격의 교과목으로 지도교수의 개인지도를 중심으로 하는 집중적인 작가양성 교육을 실시한다.

졸업작품 발표

교외전시관에서 2년 2학기 내 개인전시회발표와 본인이 준비한 A4 용지 3매 분량의 본인 작업 Essay를 포함한 전시 Catalog(작품사진이나 기록 15매 이상)에 대해 교수 5인 이상으로 이루어지는 졸업작품 심사위원회로 심사가 이루어지며, 심사위원 전원의 동의를 얻어야 한다.

Graduate Seminar

This is a course designed to deepen knowledge and humanities knowledge about the overall Fine Arts for graduate students. Contemporary artists, contemporary ideological issues and trends in adjacent art fields are covered widely.

Popular Culture Criticism Seminar 1~2

Classes to discuss and debate with students, focusing on the status of culture and arts and changes in various forms and media. Students do not simply accept theories but are expected to engage in various debates based on this broad understanding of popular culture and media.

Individual Study

This is a course designed to strengthen the foundation of one's world of art by allowing students in the Graduate Program to set research goals and research methods independently according to their areas of interest. Students can submit a specific research plan to their adviser and select an advisory professor.

Technical Workshop

While Individual Study focuses on the conceptual aspect of work and operates content-oriented, Technical Workshop aims to support the technical aspect of production practically. It is provided in various fields such as video workshop, graphics programming and physical computing, photography and holography, two-dimensional space and pictoriality and three-dimensional and material research.

Collective Project-Studio

Select a topic and conduct joint research. Researchers of different genres gather to practice collaborative work through organic communication processes and expect new results that show synergy effects.

Wood-Metal Workshop

Training in the nature of media and basic techniques based on basic understanding of carpentry and ironwork and practical safety education through workshop field practice.

전공 선택

전문사 세미나

전문사과정 학생들을 대상으로 조형예술 전반에 관한 지식과 인문학적 소양을 심화시키기 위해 개설된 교과목이다. 동시대 작가, 동시대의 사상적 쟁점, 인접 예술 분야의 동향 등이 폭넓게 다루어진다.

대중문화비평 세미나

문화예술이 갖는 위상과 다양한 형식과 매체의 변화를 중점으로 학생들과 논의, 토론하는 수업이며, 단순히 이론을 수용하는 것이 아닌 학생들이 대중문화와 미디어에 대한 폭넓은 이해를 기반으로 다양한 논쟁을 펼치는 것을 기대한다.

독립연구

전문사과정 학생들이 각자 자신의 관심영역에 따라 자율적으로 연구목표와 연구방법 등을 설정하여 자신의 작품세계의 토대를 강화하도록 하기 위해 개설된 교과목이다. 학생은 지도교수에게 구체적인 연구계획을 제출하고 자문교수를 선정할 수 있다.

기술연구

독립연구 교과가 작품의 개념적인 측면의 연구에 초점을 두고 내용 중심으로 운영되는 데 비해 본 기술연구 교과는 작품 제작의 기술적 측면을 실질적으로 지원하는데 그 목표가 있다. 비디오워크숍, 그래픽스프로그래밍과 피지컬컴퓨팅, 사진과 홀로그래피, 평면과 회화성, 입체와 재료연구 등 다양한 영역으로 제공된다.

공동프로젝트 스튜디오

한 주제를 정하여 공동으로 연구한다. 서로 다른 장르의 연구자들이 모여 유기적인 소통과정을 통한 공동작업의 실천을, 시너지 효과가 보여주는 새로운 결과물을 기대한다.

목공·철공 워크샵

목공·철공의 기본적 이해와 공방 현장실습을 통한 실무적 안전 교육을 바탕으로 매체의 성질과 기초 기법을 연마한다.
